ABOUT THE WHITEPAPER
FlexCast isn’t a product or a protocol; rather, it’s the notion that IT should be able to deliver a variety of resources, each tailored to meet multiple end-user performance, security and flexibility requirements. Those resources should be available from any place and any device that a user is connecting from, physical, virtual, Windows®, non-Windows – it simply should not matter. Such capability is made a reality through implementing the various FlexCast models. Here are the basic FlexCast models: • Hosted Shared – multiuser desktops/applications that are hosted and managed using Citrix XenApp provisioning • Hosted VDI – XenDesktop single-user virtual hosted desktops • Remote PC – physical desktops manually managed by leveraging the Citrix VDA and Receiver • Streamed VHD – PVS streamed desktop-to-physical-end-points where the VHD leverages local machine resources • On Demand Apps – users have access to hosted applications within the data center rather than a virtual desktop
